Protection of the Nation’s critical infrastructure from both attacks and natural hazards is of increasing concern as the potential for terrorist attacks has increased significantly. SST has worked with local and national agencies to develop approaches for cost-effective enhancement of infrastructure security, leveraging our extensive experience with Navy facility protection projects. We have developed cost-effective approaches for threat assessments and methodologies for evaluation of potential security improvements. We conduct both “virtual” and actual red-team operations to assess baseline security and to test the effectiveness of alternative implementations of security improvements. We review vendor offerings and provide unbiased evaluations of sensor and system performance in the client’s environments. We develop system configurations tailored to a client’s specific situation and requirements and work with the client to define implementation strategies. We then help the client to put the enhancements in place and to train client personnel on the most effective use of the improved security systems.
